"Ornament of Opportunity" Columbia Metropolitan Airport.

Columbia Metropolitan Airport was known as the Lexington County Airport until 1941, when it became Columbia Army Air Base, where the legendary Doolittle Raiders trained for their historic mission.

In 1965, it became the Columbia Metropolitan Airport. It has undergone several terminal renovations in the 1970's, 1990's, and 2000's. In 1982, the airport became self-sufficient and no longer relied on local property tax to operate.

In 2020, CAE introduced the refreshed brand that people recognize today. The airport continues to grow and connects our community to the world with 35+ daily nonstop flights to 10 major airports in 9 cities. From military airfield to hometown airport, CAE has been proudly part of our community for generations.
